Go Walk Falkland ~ Tyndall Bruce Monument
This walk begins in the same place as you would for Maspie Den. Start the walk in the "Hidden Place" with ample parking, exit the car park and go right to continue on the main path. The path splits in 3 directions but keep to the centre. Continue along the no.1 cycle route until you see the sign for Maspie Den on the left hand side.
For most dogs this part can be off lead, however, as always, remember you are responsible for your dog at all times, if you are at all worried they could get spooked and run, or chase a wild animal onto farm land, then do not risk it. Once you pass through the dark tunnel the path splits- ignore the stone marker and take the right hand path, this leads on to a farm track, traffic is scarce but something to be aware of, as is the approaching farmland that may have livestock in the fields nearby. You take a path off to the left and there are red arrow markers that keep you going in the right direction. As you continue up the hill keep following the red arrow, there is another farm track that will cross your path, but continue straight ahead and cross a small wooden bridge, heading towards the woodland. It was safe enough here for me to let Keiko off lead.
Ignore the road off to the right and continue up the steep winding path up the hill. If you keep left you will join onto the forest road again, very little chance of coming accross vehicles here but it is an access road, so there may be the occasional vehicle. On the left hand rid a path leads off uphill. It's a circular route and will lead back to the main path again after a small detour. Worth going this way as there are lovely views and some interesting ruins. As you approach the ruins be aware of sheep in the neighbouring field. Lots of fresh water streams this way too if your pooch needs a drink. Red markers will keep you on the right path.
As you return toward the main path again you will glimpse the Tyndall Bruce Monument through the trees. It's an impressive structure, with even more impressive views over Fife and Perthshire.
We walked in and around the monument. Stopping to take in the lovely views and get some photographs. There is a bench at the view point and a narrow path leading off to the left, it's steep and slidey, the most difficult part of this walk, but soon returns to a lovely forested walk.
Worth stopping at Pillars Of Hercules for a bite to eat. Dog friendly with sheltered outdoor dining space, water bowls for dogs, a hook if you want to leave them tied up. We had a lovely lunch here, food is all organic and locally sourced where possible.
Time : 2hrs
Distance : 8.64 km
Rating : 8/10
Hazards : Occational Deer, Sheep, Steep Climb and Decent

So in conclusion ...
I prefer this walk over going up East Lomond, more safe places to let your dog off, not so hard on the old knees. It is possible to combine Maspie Den with this walk for an even better experience.
